Old passport

This one has already ten years and is a little bit broken on the back cover. Soon, well, within 30 days, I will receive a new one. Today I went to the police department to ask for a new one:

Me: Good morning, I would like to change my passport as this one will be out of date next month.
Police lady: (looking at my old passport and analyzing every single atom of it) What have you done with that?
Me: Well it's ten years old and I was travelling (!!!) ...
Police lady : (more angry and not satisfied with my answer) This is property of Slovak Republic! If you damage it you have to pay a fine 4000SKK! You have to handle with that carefully!
Me: ... just smiling :) and thinking that maybe Slovak Republic should give us better quality passports ... but rather keep my mouth shut, it was just 7.30AM and I don't want to argue so early in the morning ...

So what we will learn from that: Do not travel (at least not outside EU now) and keep your passport at home on the shelf ;)
